1995, Stage Two
2008
Using a discovered discarded diary of one year in a woman’s life, the work explores the ephemeralness of recording, memory, dipersal, and preservation. Based on medical and botanic methods of protecting and preserving specimens in sprit solution, each page of the diary was ‘preserved’ in individual containers. Contrary to the usual purpose of this method, the preserving solution increased the rate of breaking down what was meant to be preserved (Stage One), and became a catalyst for growing new mini-ecosystems in each container (Stage Two).
