In the small Slovenian town of Piran, the outdoor installation 'Piran Intervention #2' consisted of 1,672 plastic cups filled with sea water and salt, reflecting the materiality of the site as well as the Venetian town’s ruling elements: sea, salt, and religion. The circular configuration is based on the molecular structure of salt and the unique form of the crosses on top of the town’s churches. The work is deliberately situated at the end of a road with views of St George’s Cathedral (the patron saint of salt), nestled between the sea and town centre, and can be viewed from high above where it functions as a map marking this as a site where these ruling elements come together.
