Using a discarded diary of one year in a woman’s life discovered in a junk yard, 1995 explores the ephemeral qualities of recording, memory, dispersal, and preservation. Inspired by medical and botanic methods of protecting and preserving specimens in spirit solution, each page of the diary was "preserved" in individual containers. Contrary to the usual purpose of this process, the liquid solution increased the rate of breaking down what was meant to be preserved (Stage One). When moved to another site, the artworks became self-contained ecosystems (Stage Two).
