A street-facing gallery in Edinburgh is transformed into a raised ‘private’ garden, reflecting the city’s topography and architecture designed with exclusivity in mind (there are 41 private parks the New Town section of the city alone). Only invited guests are allowed to enjoy the Garden; once they step up onto the turf-covered platform they activate the work and assume the role of performer for those walking by on the street outside.
