“Rise of the Greenlandic Metropolis” is an ongoing body of work about Greenland becoming the next World Superpower due to the affects of climate change. Based on fieldwork done during a visit to Greenland in 2008, the series explores the politics, economics, pop culture, design and urban infrastructure in a world where fresh water is the new global currency and the melting Arctic ice a major export. The Surveys are fieldwork documentation using counting-machine receipt tape to measure the landscape according to economy. Photographed in Ilulissat, Greenland.
