Horizon
Etching on Rice Paper
43 x 14 in
Inspired by the meditative quality of the ocean’s horizon, these eight studies investigate the shifting patterns of light and tone at the earth’s edge. Allowing the artist’s hand and properties of the printmaking process to give shape to the horizontal grid, the etching ground was intentionally aged before drawing and washing the plate in acid, creating an uncontrollable chipping of the lines to reflect the fluctuating and unpredictable nature of light.
